Bouchaine Chardonnay, Carneros, Napa Valley, 2007

Estate Vineyard. The Bouchaine Estate Vineyard is among the southernmost plantings in the Napa Valley and encompasses the highest landmark terraces in the Carneros district. An assortment of newly-planted Dijon clones and traditional 25-year-old vines reap the full benefit of the marine impact that defines the Carneros region. Chardonnay is a delight to produce as it responds so readily to the winemaker's imagination. To achieve the layers of flavor evident in this bottling, each day's harvest is made in a slightly different style. Six months later the wine is blended into the final expression of Estate vineyard terroir and winemaker's art. The citrusy impression and lingering textured finish come from the region. The overtones of spice and the intrigue come from the winemaking. Alc. 13.9% by vol.
